Christmas and New Year Office Opening Times

During the festive time the office in Portals Nous will have limited opening times:
Christmas
Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th of December - 10.30am to 3.30pm.
New Year
Tuesday 3rd, Wednesday 4th, Thursday 5th, Friday 6th of January 10.30am to 3.30pm.  Saturday 7th Jan 10.30am to 1.00pm

Hotels Open in the South West of the Mallorca during Winter 2011

Limited hotels are open this winter on the island, however I have sourced which ones in the South West of the Mallorca are open for business.    In the New Year more hotels will begin to open in the early Spring, but for now here are the ones which are open.  For example:  Nixe Palace - Cala Mayor, Melia Palas Antenea - Palma, Barcelo Albatros - Illetas.  The full list is after the "jump" -

Office Christmas Party

Saturday night was an enjoyable evening for the Nash Homes office Christmas party.  Joined also by the girls from "Gosh" the local hairdressers, we all had a fabulous meal at the Akbar Indian restaurant, here in Portals Nous.  Lots of free-flowing wine, selection of curries with spicy Indian delicacies and Bollywood dancing.  Also generous helpings of Christmas crackers, streamers, ribbon poppers and noisy horns!  A fun night ... here we are at the start of the evening, looking glamorous and quite sedate!   

Beautiful December Day!

A gorgeous day today; Monday 19th of December.  The photo was taken from Silver Point overlooking Puerto Portals marina.   The day started chilly (4 deg at 8am!!) but has crept up a comfortable 13 degrees now, with sunshine.  The week before Christmas and the weather is beautiful!

Many of our properties for sale and rental have sun-filled rooms; one of the joys of living on the island of Mallorca with our endless days of sunshine.    Today we have a beautiful sunny day, however very strong winds blowing in from the mainland. 

More Routes to Mallorca with Ryanair

Ryanair have announced they will be adding 17 new routes as of March next year to the existing 30 routes already operated from Palma de Mallorca.  The new routes will connect Palma with Arhus (Denmark), Tampere (Finland), Haugesund and Oslo (Norway), Stockholm and Gothenburg (Sweden), Maastrict (Netherlands), Magdeburg (Germany), Krarkow and Poznan (Poland), Kaunas (Lithuania), Cork (Ireland), Marseilles and Paris (France), Malaga, Santander and Santiago (mainland Spain).    Ryanair also stated that Son Sant Joan airport in Palma de Mallorca is to become one of its 49 European bases.   All good news for connections to the island.

Christmas and Three Kings Fair in Palma

There are many Christmas Markets happening around the island at the moment including;  Deya, Puigpunyent, Valledemossa, Santa Ponsa, Alaro, Manacor and Puerto Portals. The city of Palma has several markets dotted around in; Plaza Mayor, Ramblas, Plaza Porta Pintada, Plaza Oliver and Plaza Espana.  Here you can buy gifts for Christmas, handicrafts, and usually festive food and drink. Open from 10am to 9pm Monday to Sunday and runs until 6th January 2012.  

In addition there is a temporary ice-skating rink near the Plaza Espana train station until 31st January 2012, so fun for all the family.

Nearing Christmas on the island of Mallorca

Hard to believe that in just over a fortnight it will soon be Christmas. The city of Palma has its festive lights on decorating the streets and lanes from; 5.30pm to 9.30pm weekdays, until midnight at the weekends and on Christmas Eve until 04.00am.  The Christmas markets are in full swing and so too are the braziers to warm the customers as they sit outside on the pavement cafes enjoying a hot chocolate or "carajillo" (brandy or rum combined in coffee).  The shops are enticing shoppers with inviting window displays, and several festive gatherings are happening this month; one being the Swedish celebration of Santa Lucia, in Plaza Cort at 6.00pm on Tuesday Dec 13th.
